A fantastic opportunity for young people to dispell the myths that they are not interested in volunteering.

Young people are the future of volunteering! In this workshop, four young volunteers presented a day in the life of their experience so far and attempted to unravel the secrets to promoting positive young volunteering. Covering areas such as recruitment and selection, PR and marketing, accreditation, personal development and having fun, this session was informative, controversial and definitely fun.
Presenters:
Becky is 16 and has been volunteering for a number of years. She has represented the district on the UK youth parliament and young people’s opinions in the area. She also helps run various youth projects.

Brittany is 17, currently studying A levels and has been volunteering for five months. Her volunteering has now led to part time paid work.
'it was great to be listened to and actually know that people could discuss their thoughts. I hope some of our ideas help groups to attract more young volunteers to their project. I'd like to take this chance to say thank you to all the delegates who took time out to listen to us and our opinions'

Howard is 16 and volunteers at a local youth club, organising activities for younger people.

Sam is 17 and regularly assists with project development and feedback. Sam also assists local councillors with promotion and events.
